  At its most basic level Tai Chi teaches you to structure your body and movements in a way that maximizes circulation of chi (life enrgy).  Chi and blood are closely linked.  If the blood can't flow the chi can't flow.  Blood can't flow smoothly through a joint that is folded or a muscle that is contracted.  (Folding a joint, puts pressure on the little blood vessels.  Contracting a muscle squeezes the blood out.)   Increasing your chi flow and circulation of blood and other fluids helps you hea by letting system fundion at maximum effectiveness..
